THE FIRST FLIGHT OF THE MALAYSIAN BATTALION CONTINGENT (MALBATT) 850-12 DEPARTS FOR THE PEACEKEEPING MISSION OF THE UNITED NATIONS INTERIM FORCE IN LEBANON (UNIFIL)

SUBANG AIRBASE, MALAYSIA, Wednesday, 6 November 2024 - The first flight of the Malaysian Battalion Contingent (MALBATT) 850-12, comprising 220 members of the Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) and three members from the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF), safely departed yesterday for their peacekeeping mission under the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL).

The ceremonial send-off witnessed the presence of Yang Berhormat Dato' Seri Mohamed Khaled bin Nordin, Minister of Defence of Malaysia, who officiated the United Nations Beret Wearing Ceremony for the contingent members.

Esteemed attendees included Lieutenant Colonel Rudie Asmawi bin Haji Abidin, Defence Adviser to Malaysia from Brunei Darussalam, alongside Senior officers of the Malaysian Armed Forces and family members of the departing troops.

The remaining members of the RBAF personnel will be deployed on three subsequent flights, with schedules set for 10, 14, and 18 November 2024. Besides, the MALBATT 850-11 contingent is anticipated to conduct alternate return flights from Lebanon to Malaysia, coinciding with the arrival of each MALBATT 850-12 flight, culminating in the Transfer of Authority (TOA) Process scheduled for 16 November 2024 at Marakah Camp, Lebanon.

PENERBANGAN PERTAMA KONTINJEN MALAYSIAN BATTALION (MALBATT) 850-12 BERLEPAS BAGI MISI PENGAMAN PASUKAN INTERIM PERTUBUHAN BANGSA-BANGSA BERSATU DI LUBNAN (UNIFIL)

PANGKALAN UDARA SUBANG, MALAYSIA, Rabu, 6 November 2024 –Penerbangan pertama Kontinjen Batallion Malaysia (MALBATT) 850-12 untuk misi pengaman Pasukan Interim Pertubuhan Bangsa-Bangsa Bersatu di Lubnan (UNIFIL) yang terdiri daripada 220 anggota Angkatan Tentera Malaysia (ATM) dan tiga anggota Angkatan Bersenjata Diraja Brunei (ABDB) berlepas semalam.

Turut hadir di majlis pemergian tersebut ialah Yang Berhormat Dato' Seri Mohamed Khaled bin Nordin, Menteri Pertahanan Malaysia yang seterusnya menyampaikan Upacara Pemakaian Beret Pertubuhan Bangsa-Bangsa Bersatu (PBB) bagi anggota Kontingen MALBATT 850-12. Juga hadir adalah Yang Mulia Leftenan Kolonel Rudie Asmawi bin Haji Abidin, Penasihat Pertahanan Brunei Darussalam ke Malaysia, Pegawai-pegawai Kanan Angkatan Tentera Malaysia dan ahli keluarga kontinjen.

Kontinjen ABDB MALBATT 850-12 selebihnya akan berlepas pada tiga tarikh yang disusun secara berasingan. Penerbangan kedua akan membawa 4 anggota dijadualkan berlepas pada hari Ahad, 10 November 2024, manakala penerbangan seterusnya yang membawa 9 anggota dijadualkan berlepas pada hari Khamis, 14 November 2024. Seterusnya, penerbangan terakhir akan membawa 14 anggota dijadualkan berlepas pada hari Isnin, 18 November 2024.

Kontinjen MALBATT 850-11 juga akan membuat penerbangan pulang dari Lubnan ke Malaysia sejurus setibanya setiap penerbangan MALBATT 850-12 di Lubnan. Proses Pemindahan Kuasa (TOA) antara kedua-dua kontingen akan diadakan pada hari Sabtu, 16 November 2024 di Kem Marakah, Lubnan.​
