PANGKALAN TENTERA UDARA RIMBA, JUMAAT, 8 NOVEMBER 2024 – Majlis Doa Kesyukuran bagi meraikan kepulangan Kontinjen Angkatan Bersenjata Diraja Brunei (ABDB) yang selesai melaksanakan 'Operasi BADAI TADUH' misi Bantuan Kemanusiaan dan Bencana (HADR) di Republik Filipina telah diadakan di Surau Al-Barakah, Pangkalan Tentera Udara Rimba pagi ini. Kontinjen berkenaan yang diketuai oleh Leftenan Kolonel (U) Mohammad Azmi bin Haji Afflon telah selamat kembali ke Negara Brunei Darussalam pada hari Selasa, 5 November 2024 yang lalu.
Hadir di majlis berkenaan dan menyempurnakan penyampaian Sijil Penghargaan kepada ahli-ahli kontinjen ialah Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Mejar Jeneral (Bersara) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, Menteri di Jabatan Perdana Menteri dan Menteri Pertahanan II.
Turut hadir di majlis tersebut ialah Yang Mulia Mejar Jeneral Dato Paduka Seri Haji Muhammad Haszaimi bin Bol Hassan, Pemerintah ABDB, Puan Yang Terutama Marian Jocelyn R. Tirol-Ignacio, Duta Besar dan Mutlak Republik Filipina ke Negara Brunei Darussalam, Atase Pertahanan dan Angkatan Tentera Republik Filipina ke Negara Brunei Darussalam, Pegawai-Pegawai Kanan dari Kementerian Pertahanan, Kementerian Hal Ehwal Luar Negeri, Pusat Penyelarasan Bencana Kebangsaan dan keluarga anggota-anggota ABDB yang diraikan.
Kontinjen misi 'Operasi BADAI TADUH' telah dikerahkan dari 27 Oktober 2024 hingga 5 November 2024 untuk memberikan bantuan kemanusiaan kepada penduduk di kawasan terjejas di Republik Filipina berikutan Taufan Tropika Kristine (TRAMI). Misi ini mencerminkan komitmen teguh Kementerian Pertahanan terhadap operasi HADR di rantau ini, seperti digariskan di dalam Kertas Putih Pertahanan 2021, yang menekankan pendekatan proaktif dalam pengurusan bencana dan kepentingan menggalakkan kerjasama dengan negara-negara serantau. Ia juga menyokong aspirasi Piagam ASEAN yang menekankan keperluan bagi negara-negara anggota untuk meningkatkan komitmen kolektif dan tanggungjawab bersama dalam menghadapi cabaran kemanusiaan. Dengan melaksanakan misi ini, Kementerian Pertahanan bukan sahaja mengukuhkan objektif strategiknya tetapi juga menyumbang kepada rangka kerja serantau yang bertujuan untuk mempromosikan daya ketahanan dan kerjasama dalam menghadapi bencana.
DOA KESYUKURAN CEREMONY FOR THE RETURN OF ROYAL BRUNEI ARMED FORCES (RBAF) CONTINGENT UPON COMPLETION OF THE 'OPERASI BADAI TADUH' HUMANITARIAN ASSISTANCE AND DISASTER RELIEF (HADR) MISSION IN THE REPUBLIC OF THE PHILIPPINES
RIMBA AIR FORCE BASE, FRIDAY, 8 NOVEMBER 2024 – A Doa Kesyukuran Ceremony to celebrate the return of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) contingent from the recently concluded 'Operasi BADAI TADUH', a Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) mission in the Republic of the Philippines, was held this morning at the Al-Barakah Surau, Rimba Air Force Base. The contingent, led by Lieutenant Colonel (U) Mohammad Azmi bin Haji Afflon, safely returned to Brunei Darussalam on Tuesday, 5 November 2024.
Present at the ceremony and presented the Certificate of Participation to the contingent members was Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Retired) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, Minister at the Prime Minister's Office and Minister of Defence II.
Also present were Yang Mulia Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Muhammad Haszaimi bin Bol Hassan, Commander of the RBAF, Her Excellency Marian Jocelyn R. Tirol-Ignacio, Ambassador Extraordinary & Plenipotentiary of the Republic of the Philippines to Brunei Darussalam, Members of the Defence and RBAF Executive Committees, Defence and Armed Forces Attaché of the Republic of the Philippines to Brunei Darussalam, and senior officials from the Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, National Disaster and Management Centre (NDMC), and families of the celebrated RBAF personnel.
The 'Operasi BADAI TADUH' contingent was deployed from 27 October 2024 until 5 November 2024, to provide humanitarian assistance to the residents of the affected areas in Republic of the Philippines following Tropical Storm Kristine (TRAMI). This mission reflects Ministry of Defence's steadfast commitment to HADR operations in the region, in line with the Defence White Paper 2021 that underscores a proactive stance in disaster management and the importance of fostering collaboration among regional nations. It also supports the aspirations stated in the ASEAN Charter, highlighting the need for member states to enhance collective commitment and shared responsibility in addressing humanitarian challenges. By undertaking this mission, the Ministry of Defence not only reinforces its strategic objectives but also contributes to a broader regional framework aimed at promoting resilience and cooperation in the face of disasters.
