Bolkiah Garrison, Thursday, 16 July 2020 - The ASEAN Peacekeeping Centres Network under the chair of Major General Hoang Kim Phung, Director of Vietnam Department of Peacekeeping Operations (VNDPKO) held a virtual meeting under the theme of "Enhancing APCN's cooperation efforts in response to COVID-19 Pandemic".
Participating in the event were representatives from 10 ASEAN member countries and the ASEAN Secretariat. The Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) was represented by Lieutenant Colonel Pengiran Sharifuddin bin Pengiran Haji Yusof, Acting Head Joint Doctrine and Warfare Centre (JDWC) Joint Force Headquarters (JFHQ) RBAF.
During the video conferencing, representatives shared views and exchanged best practices on their response to COVID-19. Also discussed in the conference were ways to enhance future military cooperation among APCN members in responding to disease outbreaks.
VNDPKO as the current chair and host of APCN officially postponed this year's APCN Meeting and will host the 8th APCN meeting in 2021 in Hanoi, Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
APCN held its first meeting in 2012 in Malaysia with the aim to strengthen cooperation on the issues related to peacekeeping operations as well as to enhance the ability to coordinate in implementing partner activities on peacekeeping operations between ASEAN member countries.
