BOLKIAH GARRISON, Monday, 24 October 2022 – The Opening Ceremony of the 28th Cooperation Afloat Readiness and Training 2022 (CARAT 28/2022) Bilateral Exercise between the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) and the United States Navy (USN) was officiated by both Co-Chairs of CARAT 28/2022. Representing RBAF was Lieutenant Colonel Aldi bin Haji Hassan, Acting Deputy Joint Force Commander, Joint Force Headquarters and representing USN was Captain Walter C. Mainor, Commander Destroyer Squadron Fifteen (CDS 15).
Both have expressed appreciation for strengthening and nourishing the relations between the two-Armed Forces and look forward to further bilateral defence cooperation through various field training and exercises.
A wide range of at-sea, air and ashore activities have been planned for the CARAT 28/2022 exercise. In addition, both the RBAF Band and the USN Band will perform a musical outreach programme at the Pusat Ehsan Al-Ameerah Al-Hajjah Maryam and the Jerudong Park Amphitheater.
The annual CARAT exercise is intended to improve both Armed Forces interoperability, professionalism and proficiency, as well as improve collaboration in response to both traditional and non-traditional security challenges. CARAT 28/2022 will be carried out from 24th October 2022 and ends on the 31st October 2022.
