UNP 2-1 MARAKAH CAMP, SOUTH LEBANON, Saturday, 12 November 2022 – The Transfer of Authority (TOA) ceremony between MALBATT 850-9 and MALBATT 850-10 was held at UNP 2-1 Parade Square, Marakah Camp, South Lebanon. The event was attended by Maj Gen Aroldo Lázaro Sáenz, Head of Mission/Force Commander UNIFIL (HOM/FC) and was also witnessed by Lt Gen Dato’ Hj Yazid bin Hj. Arshad RMAF, Joint Force Commander, UNIFIL Sector West Commander as well as Commanders UNIFIL Troops Contributing Countries, Senior Officers of the Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF), Lebanese Mayors, the Malaysian Delegation and the Brunei Darussalam Defense Attaché in Malaysia.
The ceremony started with a General Salute by the Parade Commander to the HOM/FC, followed by the Inspection to the Parade Contingent by the HOM/FC. The event then continued with the hoisting of the United Nations (UN) flag followed by the flags of Lebanon, Malaysia and Brunei Darussalam. The highlight of the TOA on that morning was the handover of the UN Flag by Commander MALBATT 850-9 to Commander 850-10 which was witnessed by HOM/FC as a symbol of the significance of handing over the duties and responsibilities of the Commander and MALBATT especially in continuing to succeed in the peacekeeping mission in South Lebanon.
This ceremony was further enhanced by the presentation of UNIFIL’s UN medal for the completion of the 6-month period of the second term to the Commander of MALBATT 850-9, the Staff Officer of the service representative, the Women’s Representative and to the Contingent Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF). The event then proceeded with presenting the Silver Military Valor medal to the Commander of MALBATT 850-9 by a representative from the South Litani Sector Commander Lebanese Armed Forces.
The event continued with a speech by Commander MALBATT 850-9 in which he stressed that peace will be achieved through mutual understanding with each other, by understanding the Lebanese community it will be able to help establish peace. After that, the event was continued with a speech from the HOM/FC in which he expressed his gratitude to the Commander and all of MALBATT 850-9 for successfully completing the mission. In addition, he also admired the attitude and professionalism shown by the Commander of MALBATT 850-9 in managing operational matters that enable the of MALBATT 850-9 personnel to carry out their duties efficiently, efficiently and smoothly, especially in the MALBATT Area of Responsibility. RBAF had joined UNIFIL in collaboration with the Malaysian Armed Forces since 2008 MALCON WEST 1 and now 30 RBAF personnel is currently join the UNIFIL mission with MALBATT 850-10 in Lebanon.
UPACARA TRANSFER OF AUTHORITY (TOA) DAN PERBARISAN PENYAMPAIAN PINGAT BAGI MALBATT 850-9
LUBNAN, Sabtu, 12 November 2022 – Upacara Transfer of Authority (TOA) diantara MALBATT 850-9 dan MALBATT 850-10 telah selesai dilaksanakan pada hari Isnin 12 Nov 2022 bertempat di Kem Marakah, Selatan Lubnan. Acara disempurnakan oleh Mej Jen Aroldo Lázaro Sáenz, Head of Mission/Force Commander UNIFIL (HOM/FC) dan juga turut disaksikan oleh Lt Jen Dato’ Hj Yazid bin Hj. Arshad TUDM, Panglima Angkatan Bersama, ATM, Komander Sektor Barat UNIFIL serta Komander-Komander di bawah Trup UNIFIL, Pegawai Kanan Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF), Pembesar-Pembesar Lubnan, Tim Delegasi Malaysia serta Penasihat Pertahanan Negara Brunei Darussalam yang berada di Malaysia.
Majlis dimulakan dengan Tabik Hormat oleh Ketua Perbarisan kepada HOM/FC, seterusnya Pemeriksaan Perbarisan Kontinjen oleh HOM/FC. Acara kemudian diteruskan dengan menaikan bendera Pertubuhan Bangsa-Bangsa Bersatu (PBB) dan diikuti dengan bendera negara Lubnan, Malaysia dan Brunei Darussalam. Acara kemuncak TOA pada pagi itu adalah acara Penyerahan Bendera PBB oleh Komander MALBATT 850-9 kepada Komander 850-10 yang disaksikan oleh HOM/FC sebagai simbol signifikasi penyerahan tugas serta tanggung jawab Komander dan MALBATT khususnya dalam meneruskan menjayakan misi pengaman di Selatan Lubnan.
Majlis ini diserikan lagi dengan penyampaian pingat PBB UNIFIL bagi tempoh 6 bulan penugasan penggal kedua kepada Komander MALBATT 850-9, Pegawai Staf wakil perkhidmatan, Wakil Wanita dan Ketua Kontinjen Angkatan Bersenjata Diraja Brunei (ABDB). Seterusnya, Komander MALBATT 850-9 juga turut dianugerahkan pingat Silver Military Valour yang disampaikan oleh wakil dari South Litani Sector Commander.
Acara diteruskan dengan ucapan oleh Komander MALBATT 850-9 yang mana beliau sangat menekan keamanan akan dapat dicapai melalui saling memahami antara satu dengan yang lain, dengan memahami komuniti penduduk Lubnan ianya akan dapat membantu menubuhkan keamanan disesuatu tempat. Selepas itu, acara disambung dengan ucapan dari HOM/FC yang mana beliau merakamkan jutaan terima kasih kepada Komander dan seluruh Warga MALBATT 850-9 kerana telah berjaya menamatkan misi dengan jayanya. Selain itu, beliau turut memuji sikap kewibawaan dan profesionalisme yang ditunjukkan oleh Komander MALBATT 850-9 dalam menguruskan hal-hal pengoperasian yang membolehkan warga MALBATT 850-9 melaksanakan tugas dengan cekap, efisien dan lancar terutama di kawasan tanggungjawab MALBATT. Penglibatan Kontinjen Brunei Darussalam dalam misi pengaman telah pun bermula pada tahun 2008 MALCON WEST 1 dan pada ketika ini seramai 30 anggota ABDB sedang mengikuti misi antarabangsa UNIFIL bersama MALBATT 850-10
