Lieutenant Colonel Saifulrizal bin Abdul Latif is aged 44 and is the Chief of Staff of the Joint Force Headquarters (JFHQ) Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) with effect from 28th August 2020. He was commissioned as Second Lieutenant on 24th June 1996 after graduating from the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst (RMAS) in the United Kingdom.

Throughout his 24 years of service, he has held various staff and command appointments. Upon returning to Brunei Darussalam, he was a platoon commander tour in 3rd Battalion Royal Brunei Land Forces (RBLF) before he joined the special forces selection in 1998. He became a Troop Leader in Diving Troop Special Combat Squadron (SCS) (1998 - 2002). He subsequently became the Training Officer of SCS (2002 - 2004) and later was appointed as the Second-in-command of SCS in 2005. He was posted back to RBLF in 2006 as the Officer Commanding of an infantry company in the 3rd Battalion. Upon returning to the Special Forces Regiment (SFR), he was appointed as the Operations Officer (2009 - 2013) and later as the Commanding Officer (2013 - 2016).  Before his current appointment, he was the Aide-de-camp to His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of  Brunei Darussalam (2016 - 2019).

Throughout his career, he has had the opportunity to attend various courses and seminars within the country and abroad. Among the courses that he attended was the Malaysia Armed Forces Defence College (2019 - 2020), RBAF Executive Development Programme (EDP) in 2015, RBAF Command & Staff Course in 2011, Grade 2 Command & Tactics Course (Australia) in 2009, Singapore Armed Forces Advanced Infantry Officer Course (Singapore) in 2008, the Republic of Korea Counter-Terrorist Course (707th Special Mission Battalion) in 2004 and various other special operations courses.

He is married to Ampuan Yura Kasumawati binti Dato Paduka Haji Adnan and is blessed with two sons and one daughter. Among his interests and sports are golfing and horse riding.
