DEFENCE ACADEMY, Thursday, 10 August 2023 – The twenty-ninth series of Cooperation Afloat Readiness and Training (CARAT) bilateral exercise between the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) and the United States Navy (USN) is scheduled this September 2023 with the involvement for the first time the United States Coast Guard Cutter (USCGC) as a highlight for this year's exercise.
The Final Planning Conference took place from 09 to 10 August 2023 at Defence Academy, Tanah Jambu. It was co-chaired by Staff Officer Grade 1, J7 (Training) Cell, Joint Force Headquarter (JFHQ), RBAF, Major Daud bin Etim and Commander Jun Chen, Foreign Area Officer, Destroyer Squadron SEVEN. Also attended was participants from unit services of RBAF and the USN both in-person and virtually.
During the conference, participants engaged in working groups to discuss on shore phase activities involving Subject Matter Expert Exchanges (SMEEs) and also to refine the exercise's Scheme of Manoeuvre (SOM) and Schedule of Events (SOE) during shore phase.
In the closing session, both co-chairs expressed confidence and strong hope that the professionalism, commitment and hard work given by all participants will pay off in setting out a smooth sequence during the exercise.
This year's CARAT 29/2023 aims to enhance regional cooperation, to increase the level of proficiency and interoperability of RBAF, USN and United States Coast Guard (USCG) personnel in addressing current and future contemporary and complex threats.
PERSIDANGAN PERANCANGAN AKHIR BAGI EKSESAIS CARAT YANG KE-29 BAGI TAHUN 2023
AKADEMI PERTAHANAN, Khamis, 10 Ogos 2023 – Eksesais dua hala The Cooperation Afloat Readiness and Training (CARAT) siri ke-29 antara Angkatan Bersenjata Diraja Brunei (ABDB) dan Tentera Laut Amerika Syarikat (USN) dijadualkan untuk membuat latihan pada bulan September tahun ini dengan penglibatan buat pertama kalinya United States Coast Guard Cutter (USCGC) sebagai kemuncak bagi tahun ini.
Persidangan Perancangan Akhir telah berlangsung dari 09 hingga 10 Ogos 2023 di Akademi Pertahanan, Tanah Jambu. FPC ini dipengerusikan bersama oleh Pegawai Turus, Sel J7 (Latihan), Markas Angkatan Bersama (MAB), ABDB, Mejar Daud bin Etim dan Commander Jun Chen, Foreign Area Officer, Destroyer Squadron SEVEN. Turut menyertai ialah peserta-peserta dari unit angkatan ABDB dan TLAS yang hadir secara fizikal dan juga maya.
Semasa persidangan itu, para peserta terlibat dalam working group untuk membincangkan aktiviti di fasa darat yang melibatkan Subject Matter Expert Exchanges (SMEEs) dan juga bagi menetapkan dan mengesahkan Scheme of Manoeuvre (SOM) dan Schedule of Events (SOE) semasa fasa laut.
Semasa sesi penutup, kedua-dua pengerusi bersama menyatakan harapan yang tinggi agar profesionalisme, komitmen dan kerja keras yang diberikan oleh semua peserta akan membuahkan hasil dan latihan yang dibuat akan berjalan dengan lancar.
CARAT 29/2023 tahun ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kerjasama serantau, untuk meningkatkan tahap kecekapan dan interoperabiliti di antara anggota-anggota ABDB, TLAS dan juga United States Coast Guard di dalam menangani isu-isu keselamatan yang berbentuk kontemporari dan kompleks.
