REPUBLIC OF SINGAPORE, 13 - 25 August 2023 - The Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) participated in this year's 22nd Southeast Asia Cooperation and Training (SEACAT) exercise that was held from 14 until 25 August 2023. The U.S. Navy's Seventh Fleet, Destroyer Squadron 7 (DESRON 7), led a two-week maritime exercise with the Republic of Singapore Navy.
This multilateral exercise consists of two phases: the Shore phase, which includes the Maritime Domain Awareness (MDA) seminar, the Visit, Board, Seize, and Seizure (VBSS) workshop, and the Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) workshop. Meanwhile, the second phase comprises a Command Post Exercise (CPX) that runs simultaneously with a Field Training Exercise (FTX). The coordination centre for the CPX was located at the Changi Command and Control Centre (CC2C) served as the Maritime Information Centre for the SEACAT exercise and provided real-time updates on the regional maritime picture and coordinated responses to maritime threats. The FTX involved various maritime and air assets of participating countries at sea across the Southeast Asian region in which KDB DARULEHSAN successfully conducted the FTX in Brunei Waters in searching and locating the charted Vessel of Interest with the support of P-8 Poseidon Aircraft.
SEACAT is a multilateral exercise designed to enhance cooperation and interoperability amongst the Indo-Pacific nations and provide mutual support to address common problems in the maritime domain using standardized tactics, techniques, and procedures. This year's iteration saw the participation of 20 countries, including Australia, Bangladesh, Brunei, Canada, France, Germany, India, Republic of Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, the Maldives, New Zealand, the Philippines, the Republic of Korea, Republic of Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand, the United Kingdom, the United States, and Vietnam.







ANGKATAN BERSENJATA DIRAJA BRUNEI (ABDB) MENYERTAI EKSESAIS SOUTHEAST ASIA COOPERATION AND TRAINING (SEACAT) SIRI KE 22
REPUBLIK SINGAPURA, 13 - 25 Ogos 2023 - Angkatan Bersenjata Diraja Brunei (ABDB) telah menyertai Eksesais Southeast Asia Cooperation and Training (SEACAT) siri ke 22 yang diadakan bermula pada 14 hingga 25 Ogos 2023. Eksesais pelbagai hala ini diselenggarakan bersama oleh U.S. Navy's Seventh Fleet, Destroyer Squadron 7 (DESRON 7) dan Tentera Laut Republik Singapura.
Latihan ini terbahagi kepada fasa pangkalan dan fasa laut. Bagi fasa pertama ianya merangkumi pelbagai seminar dan bengkel seperti Seminar Maritime Domain Awareness, bengkel Visit, Board, Seize and Seizure (VBSS) dan bengkel Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR). Sementara itu, fasa kedua terdiri daripada Command Post Exercise (CPX) yang dijalankan secara serentak dengan Field Training Exercise (FTX). Pusat penyelarasan bagi CPX terletak di Changi Command and Control Centre (CC2C) yang berfungsi sebagai penyaluran maklumat maritim bagi eksesais SEACAT dan menyediakan kemas kini masa nyata mengenai gambaran maritim serantau dan tindak balas yang diselaraskan terhadap ancaman maritim. Bagi perlaksanaan FTX pula, ianya melibatkan aset maritim dan udara negara-negara yang turut serta yang dibuat di seluruh rantau Asia Tenggara. Aset TLDB iaitu KDB DARULEHSAN juga terlibat dalam eksesais pelbagai hala ini yang dilaksanakan di perairan Negara Brunei Darussalam bagi latihan mencari dan mengesan Vessel of Interest dengan bantuan kapal udara P-8 Poseidon.
Eksesais SEACAT adalah merupakan eksesais pelbagai hala yang direka bagi meningkatkan kerjasama dan interoperability dikalangan negara-negara Indo-Pasifik dan sokongan bersama untuk menangani masalah dalam maritime domain dengan menggunakan taktik, teknik dan prosedur tetap. Pada siri kali ini, latihan ini telah disertai oleh 20 buah negara termasuk Australia, Bangladesh, Brunei, Canada, France, Germany, India, Republik Indonesia, Jepun, Malaysia, Maldives, New Zealand, Filipina, Republik Korea, Republik Singapura, Sri Lanka, Thailand, United Kingdom, United States, dan Vietnam.
