ACTING JOINT FORCE COMMANDER ROYAL BRUNEI ARMED FORCES RECEIVES INTRODUCTORY CALL FROM THE PAKISTAN DEFENCE ADVISER ACCREDITED TO BRUNEI DARUSSALAM


BOLKIAH GARRISON, Tuesday, 29 October 2024 – The Acting Joint Force Commander Royal Brunei Armed Forces, Colonel (U) Hismawadi bin Hj Mohammad Said received an introductory call from Commodore Javed Iqbal Khan Niazi, the Defence Adviser of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan accredited to Brunei Darussalam this morning. Also in attendance were Staff Officer Grade 1 J2 Cell and Staff Officer Grade 1 J3Navy Cell.

During the call, Acting Joint Force Commander Royal Brunei Armed Forces congratulated Commodore Javed Iqbal Khan Niazi on his appointment as the new Defence Adviser accredited to Brunei Darussalam who is based in Malaysia. Both sides discussed the bilateral defence relations, which continue to be promoted through the Joint Defence Working Committee co-chaired by Brunei Darussalam and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, exchanges of visits, training and courses.

Acting Joint Force Commander Royal Brunei Armed Forces expressed his hope to further strengthening the bilateral defence relationship from both sides in the field of defence and military cooperation.

Diplomatic relations were established on 9 February 1984. This year 2024 marks the 44th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. Two Memorandum of Understandings (MOUs) were signed on 19 May 2004; MOU on Combating Terrorism and other Transnational Crimes and MOU on Defence Cooperation. The MOU serves as a framework to foster closer defence relation and cooperation between the two countries, which include military training, military exercises, exchange of information on matters pertaining to security, training and defence, and exchange of visits between the respective defence and military officials. Through this MOU, it has established Joint Defence Working Committee (JDWC) between Brunei Darussalam and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.

 

 



PEMANGKU PEMERINTAH ANGKATAN BERSAMA ANGKATAN BERSENJATA DIRAJA BRUNEI TERIMA KUNJUNGAN PENGENALAN DARIPADA PENASIHAT PERTAHANAN PAKISTAN YANG DIAKREDITASI KE NEGARA BRUNEI DARUSSALAM

BOLKIAH GARRISON, Selasa, 29 Oktober 2024 – Pemangku Pemerintah Angkatan Bersama Angkatan Bersenjata Diraja Brunei, Kolonel (U) Hismawadi bin Hj Mohammad Said telah menerima kunjungan pengenalan daripada Commodore Javed Iqbal Khan Niazi, Penasihat Pertahanan Republik Islam Pakistan yang diakreditasi ke Negara Brunei Darussalam, pagi ini. Turut hadir adalah Pegawai Turus Sel J2 Perisikan dan Pegawai Turus Sel J3 Laut.

Semasa kunjungan tersebut, Pemangku Pemerintah Angkatan Bersama Angkatan Bersenjata Diraja Brunei telah menyampaikan ucapan tahniah kepada Commodore Javed Iqbal Khan Niazi di atas pelantikan beliau sebagai Penasihat Pertahanan Republik Islam Pakistan yang ke Negara Brunei Darussalam yang beribu pejabat di Malaysia. Kedua-dua belah pihak seterusnya membincangkan hubungan pertahanan dua hala yang terus dipertingkatkan melalui Mesyuarat Jawatankuasa Kerja Pertahanan Bersama yang dipengerusikan bersama oleh Negara Brunei Darussalam dan Republik Islam Pakistan, dari segi pertukaran lawatan, kursus dan latihan.

Pemangku Pemerintah Angkatan Bersama Angkatan Bersenjata Diraja Brunei juga menzahirkan harapan untuk meningkatkan hubungan pertahanan antara kedua-dua buah negara dalam kerjasama tentera dan pertahanan.

Hubungan diplomatik telah terjalin sejak 9 Februari 1984. Tahun 2024 menandakan ulang tahun terjalinnya hubungan diplomatik antara kedua-dua negara yang ke 44 tahun.  Dua Memorandum Persefahaman (MOU) telah ditandatangani pada 19 Mei 2004; MOU mengenai Membanteras Keganasan dan Jenayah Transnasional lain dan MOU mengenai Kerjasama Pertahanan. MOU itu berfungsi sebagai rangka kerja untuk memupuk hubungan dan kerjasama pertahanan yang lebih erat antara kedua-dua negara, termasuk latihan ketenteraan, pertukaran maklumat mengenai perkara-perkara yang berkaitan dengan keselamatan, latihan dan pertukaran lawatan antara pertahanan. Melalui MOU ini, ia telah menubuhkan Jawatankuasa Kerja Pertahanan Bersama (JDWC) antara Negara Brunei Darussalam dan Republik Islam Pakistan.
