​COLONEL (U) HISMAWADI BIN HAJI MOHAMMAD SAID

ACTING JOINT FORCE COMMANDER, ROYAL BRUNEI ARMED FORCES


Colonel (U) Hismawadi bin Haji Mohammad Said was born on 07 December 1971. He was enlisted in the Royal Brunei Armed Forces on 12 July 1996. He completed his 6 months Basic Military Training at RBAF Institute Training Centre, Penanjong in December 1996. He continued his Initial Officer Training Course at Royal Air Force College, Cranwell, United Kingdom in 1997 and w​as commissioned as a Lieutenant on 02 October 1997.​


He was then posted to No.3 Squadron/Basic Flying Training School, Royal Brunei Airforce (RBAirF) to undergo his basic flying training in 1998. He then underwent the rotary wing flying training at 124 Squadron, Republic Singapore Air Force (RSAF) in 1999. Throughout his career as a pilot, he has flown a Pilatus PC7 MK II, AS-550-A2 Fennec, Bell 212, Bell 214 ST, Bell 206B Jet Ranger and S70A Blackhawk. He has also been awarded as Qualified Helicopter Instructor (QHI) from Republic Singapore Airforce in 2005 and Bell Maintenance Test Pilot (MTP) by The Bell Training Academy USA in 2007.

 

He was a Squadron Commander of No.1 Squadron in 2006, Squadron Commander of No.2 Squadron in 2009, Squadron Commander of No.63 Squadron in 2010, and Squadron Commander of Flying Standard and Evaluation Squadron in 2012. He was appointed as the Commanding Officer of the Training Wing on 17 October 2014. In 2016, he was appointed as Assistant Chief of Staff RBAirF and Chief of Staff RBAirF in 2017. In March 2018, he was then appointed as Assistant Chief of Staff Royal Brunei Armed Forces. He continued his tour as Head of Inspectorate RBAirF on 19 April 2019. He was also holding a post as Acting Commander Operation Group (COG) RBAirF from 01 July 2019 until 31 July 2020 and was as Commander Operation Group (COG) RBAirF until 01 January 2022. Colonel (U) Hismawadi is currently holding as Acting Joint Force Commander RBAF since 26 September 2023.

 

He has attended Australian Command Staff College (ACSC), and in 2009 was awarded with Pass Staff Course (Joint), PSC (j) and Graduate Diploma of Strategy in Defence Studies. He also attended the Executive Development Programme (EDP) in 2016.

 

Colonel (U) Hismawadi is married to Pengiran Hajah Siti Norbaya binti Pengiran Haji Mohammad and blessed to have 4 daughters and 1 son.
