30th COOPERATION AFLOAT READINESS AND TRAINING (CARAT) 2024 CLOSING CEREMONY

BOLKIAH GARRISON, Monday, 25 November 2024 – The 30th Cooperation Afloat Readiness and Training (CARAT) Exercise, 2024 between the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) and the United States Navy (USN) concluded today with a closing ceremony held at Wira Seni Concert Hall, RBAF Band Building, Bolkiah Garrison.

Closing addresses were delivered by Colonel Aldi bin Haji Hassan, Deputy Joint Force Commander, Royal Brunei Armed Forces, and Colonel Stuart W. Glenn, Commander of Marine Rotational Force Southeast Asia.

In attendance was Her Excellency Ambassador Caryn R. McClelland, the US Ambassador to Brunei Darussalam, along with exercise participants from both nations.

Colonel Aldi bin Haji Hassan, in his remarks emphasized the enduring bilateral relations between Brunei Darussalam and the United States, emphasizing the vital role CARAT plays in enhancing regional stability and security through strengthened interoperability and professional collaboration. Colonel Aldi also underlined the relevance of the Brunei Defence White Paper 2021 and Wawasan Brunei 2035, aligning CARAT's objectives with the nation's strategic goals of fostering regional partnerships and contributing to regional security.

In his remarks, Colonel Stuart W. Glenn emphasized the importance of the CARAT Exercise as a platform for meaningful interaction, idea exchange, and mutual learning, which serve to strengthen the partnership between the two Armed Forces. He highlighted that this partnership, founded on mutual respect, shared understanding, and common interests, is ultimately rooted in the collective pursuit of peace.

The 30th CARAT Exercise featured a wide range of activities, including Maritime Domain Awareness (MDA), Subject Matter Expert Exchanges (SMEEs), operational training, and community engagement programs, designed to enhance regional cooperation, build professional skills, and foster stronger ties between the participating forces.

The successful completion of this milestone exercise underscores the shared dedication of the RBAF and USN to advancing maritime security and regional stability.

MAJLIS PENUTUP COOPERATION AFLOAT READINESS AND TRAINING (CARAT) 2024 KALI KE-30

BOLKIAH GARISON, Isnin, 25 November 2024 – Eksesais Cooperation Afloat Readiness and Training (CARAT) yang ke-30 bagi tahun 2024 di antara Angkatan Bersenjata Diraja Brunei (ABDB) dan Tentera Laut Amerika Syarikat (USN) telah berakhir hari ini dengan Majlis Penutup yang berlangsung di Dewan Konsert Wira Seni, di Bangunan Band RBAF di Bolkiah Garison.

Ucapan penutup telah disampaikan oleh Kolonel Aldi bin Haji Hassan, Timbalan Pemerintah Angkatan Bersama, Angkatan Bersenjata Diraja Brunei, dan Colonel Stuart W. Glenn, Commander of Marine Rotational Force Southeast Asia.​

Turut hadir adalah Puan Yang Terutama Caryn R. McClelland, Duta Amerika Syarikat di Brunei Darussalam, bersama peserta latihan dari kedua buah negara.

Kolonel Aldi bin Haji Hassan, dalam ucapannya, menekankan kepentingan hubungan dua hala yang kukuh antara Negara Brunei Darussalam dan Amerika Syarikat, sambil menekankan peranan penting CARAT dalam meningkatkan kestabilan dan keselamatan serantau melalui interoperabiliti yang lebih kukuh dan kerjasama profesional. Kolonel Aldi juga menegaskan kepentingan CARAT dalam matlamat strategik negara, iaitu untuk memperkukuhkan kerjasama serantau dan menyumbang kepada keselamatan maritim, seperti yang terkandung di dalam Defence White Paper 2021 dan Wawasan Brunei 2035, yang menyelaraskan objektif CARAT dengan matlamat strategik negara untuk memperkukuhkan kerjasama serantau dan menyumbang kepada keselamatan di rantau ini.

Dalam ucapannya, Colonel Stuart W. Glenn menekankan kepentingan Eksesais CARAT sebagai platform untuk berinteraksi, bertukar-tukar pandangan dan ilmu pengetahuan bagi memperkukuhkan kerjasama antara kedua-dua Angkatan Tentera. Beliau turut menegaskan bahawa asas kerjasama ini terletak pada saling menghormati, persefahaman serta kepentingan bersama, dengan matlamat utama untuk memupuk keamanan yang berpanjangan.

Eksesais CARAT kali ke-30 telah merangkumi pelbagai aktiviti, termasuk Maritime Domain Awareness (MDA), Program Pertukaran Pakar Subjek (SMEE), latihan operasi, dan program hubungan komuniti yang bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kerjasama serantau, membina kemahiran profesional, serta memperkukuhkan hubungan di antara pasukan yang mengambil bahagian.

Kejayaan eksesais ini mencerminkan dedikasi bersama ABDB dan USN dalam memajukan keselamatan maritim dan kestabilan serantau.
