DOA KESYUKURAN CEREMONY FOR THE RETURN OF THE ROYAL BRUNEI ARMED FORCES CONTINGENT PARTICIPATING IN MALBATT 850-11 FOR THE UNIFIL PEACEKEEPING MISSION

BOLKIAH GARRISON, Friday, 3 January 2025 – A Doa Kesyukuran ceremony was held this morning at Surau Ad-Difa', Bolkiah Garrison, to welcome the return of 29 personnel from the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) who participated in the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) peacekeeping mission with the Malaysian Battalion (MALBATT) 850-11. The contingent, led by Major Hafizi bin Sabli, comprised 3 officers and 26 other ranks personnel, including 2 female soldiers, who successfully completed a 13-month deployment and returned safely to Brunei Darussalam on 14 December 2024.

Present at the ceremony and presented the Certificate of Participation to the contingent members was Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Retired) Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, Minister at the Prime Minister's Office and Minister of Defence II.

Also in attendance were Yang Mulia Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Muhammad Haszaimi bin Bol Hassan, Commander of the RBAF, His Excellency, Datuk Mohd Aini bin Atan, the High Commissioner-Designate of Malaysia to Brunei Darussalam, Members of the Defence and RBAF Executive Committees, representative from Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Malaysian Defence Advisor at Malaysian High Commission to Brunei Darussalam, officers and personnel of the Ministry of Defence, as well as families of the personnel involved in the peacekeeping mission.

The ceremony also featured a Tazkirah titled "Sacrifice and Service in Maintaining Peace," delivered by Major Narulismandy @ Anwar Hadi bin Haji Samaih, Religious Affairs Officer, RBAF Religious Directorate (JAMA'AT).

The UNIFIL mission for the MALBATT 850-11 contingent this time was filled with various challenges, requiring more careful precautions to ensure the safety of personnel and the smooth conduct of operations. Additionally, maintaining the spirit and morale of the RBAF personnel and ensuring support from their families back home were also important aspects throughout the deployment.

Since 2008, a total of 464 personnel have participated in the UNIFIL peacekeeping mission, reaffirming Brunei Darussalam's unwavering commitment to fostering global peace and stability in line with United Nations Security Council Resolution 1701 (2006). This ongoing participation reflects the professionalism, resilience, and commitment of RBAF personnel while bolstering Brunei Darussalam's strategic role in international defence diplomacy. It further underscores the nation's reputation as a responsible and proactive member of the global community, committed to promoting collective security and stability.










MAJLIS DOA KESYUKURAN SEMPENA KEPULANGAN KONTINJEN ANGKATAN BERSENJATA DIRAJA BRUNEI YANG MENYERTAI MALBATT 850-11 BAGI MISI PENGAMAN UNIFIL

BOLKIAH GARISON, Jumaat, 3 Januari 2025 – Majlis Doa Kesyukuran bagi meraikan kepulangan 29 anggota Angkatan Bersenjata Diraja Brunei (ABDB) yang telah menyertai misi pengaman Pasukan Interim Pertubuhan Bangsa-Bangsa Bersatu di Lubnan (UNIFIL) bersama Malaysian Battalion (MALBATT) 850-11 telah diadakan di Surau Ad-Difa', Bolkiah Garison pada pagi ini. Kontinjen yang diketuai oleh Mejar Hafizi bin Sabli terdiri daripada 3 pegawai, 26 anggota lain-lain peringkat, termasuk 2 anggota askar wanita, telah berjaya menamatkan penugasan selama 13 bulan dan selamat kembali ke Negara Brunei Darussalam pada 14 Disember 2024 yang lalu.

Hadir di majlis berkenaan dan menyempurnakan penyampaian Sijil Penghargaan kepada ahli-ahli kontinjen ialah Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Mejar Jeneral (Bersara) Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, Menteri di Jabatan Perdana Menteri dan Menteri Pertahanan II. 

Turut hadir ialah Yang Mulia Mejar Jeneral Dato Paduka Seri Haji Muhammad Haszaimi bin Bol Hassan, Pemerintah ABDB; Tuan Yang Terutama Datuk Mohd Aini bin Atan, Bakal Pesuruhjaya Tinggi Malaysia ke Negara Brunei Darussalam, Ahli-Ahli Jawatankuasa Eksekutif Pertahanan dan ABDB, wakil Kementerian Hal Ehwal Luar Negeri, Penasihat Pertahanan Malaysia di Suruhanjaya Tinggi Malaysia ke Negara Brunei Darussalam, pegawai-pegawai dan kakitangan Kementerian Pertahanan serta ahli keluarga anggota-anggota yang menyertai misi pengaman.

Majlis ini turut diselitkan dengan tazkirah bertajuk "Pengorbanan dan Jasa dalam Menjaga Keamanan", disampaikan oleh Mejar Narulismandy @ Anwar Hadi bin Haji Samaih, Pegawai Turus Gerakan Agama Jabatanarah Agama ABDB (JAMA'AT).

Perjalanan misi UNIFIL bagi Kontinjen MALBATT 850-11 kali ini penuh dengan pelbagai cabaran, dengan keadaan yang memerlukan langkah berjaga-jaga yang lebih teliti dalam memastikan keselamatan anggota dan kelancaran operasi. Selain itu, mengekalkan semangat dan moral anggota ABDB serta memastikan sokongan keluarga di tanah air turut menjadi aspek penting sepanjang penugasan.

Sejak 2008, seramai 464 anggota telah terlibat dalam misi UNIFIL, menegaskan kembali komitmen teguh Negara Brunei Darussalam dalam memupuk keamanan dan kestabilan global selaras dengan Resolusi 1701 Majlis Keselamatan PBB (2006). Penglibatan berterusan ini memaparkan profesionalisme, kecekalan, dan komitmen anggota ABDB, di samping memperkukuhkan peranan strategik Negara Brunei Darussalam dalam diplomasi pertahanan antarabangsa. Ia juga memperkasakan martabat negara sebagai anggota masyarakat antarabangsa yang bertanggungjawab dan proaktif, komited terhadap usaha mempromosikan keselamatan serta kestabilan sejagat.
